About
The Psyche butterfly’s wings is fully dry and it is ready to take flight; only to find itself trapped and tangled.
Regardless kinship, friendship or romantic relationship; blood is used in this artwork as a symbol to represent the bonds and relationships that have become an integral part of us.
In different seasons in life, you may have found yourself struggling to take the flight that is meant for you; to find yourself stifled by the perceptions and expectations by well meaning individuals you so deeply love and adore.
Oftentimes, we find ourselves caught in well meaning intentions and advice given by the ones we hold close. In the name of love and concern, we find ourselves ensnared in bonds that we treasure dearly, we forsake the chance to attempt flying close to the Sun.
Symbols
“The Psyche is relatively common throughout Singapore, although it makes its appearance once in a while in the most unlikely places...
When observing this feeble flying butterfly, one has to be extremely patient to wait for it to alight to feed on a flower, or to take an occasional rest on a nearby leaf. Though it has a weak flight, it can go on flying for long periods of time without taking a rest stop...”
