About

For some strange reason, I’ve been intrigued to photograph dead animals back in 2017 and I think it’s here to stay as I’ve continued this year. Perhaps the stark difference of our busy lives and the insignificant death of a random animal/insect is what draws me in.

Recently I’ve been thinking about death. Not to say I haven’t pondered about it, but it’s just been slightly more recently and I catch myself paying attention to the funerals happening at void decks while preparing meals in the kitchen. I come to realise there’s a funeral happening every now and then. Sometimes I’m surprised by how frequent it is.

Being reminded of my limited time on Earth while meal prepping isn’t necessarily the best of combination, but once in a while, it’s a much needed reminder.

I’ve turned these photographs into bookmarks and I hope when one opens to a page where this bookmark is gently sandwiched, they’ll be reminded to live intentionally.

I’m well aware talking about “death” may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is part of all our journeys. I feel that acknowledging death enable us to appreciate life in a fuller sense.
